Reps Spokesman Confirms Mandatory Electronic Result Transmission

On Tuesday, Rotimi, the spokesman for the House of Representatives, emphasized during an interview on Arise Television that the electronic transmission of election results is a mandatory requirement under the amended Electoral Act. This clarification comes amid controversies surrounding the harmonization of the Electoral Act repeal and re-enactment bill.

Rotimi explained that the requirement for electronic transmission is explicitly captured in the provisions approved by lawmakers. He noted that both the House and Senate have passed separate versions of the bill, which differ in certain clauses.

Furthermore, Rotimi disclosed that members of the conference committee have met extensively to review the disputed provisions of the bill, indicating ongoing legislative discussions to resolve these differences.
