Ellah Lakes Plc 17-Month Results: Revenue Surges, Losses Widen

Ellah Lakes Plc disclosed audited financials covering a non-standard seventeen-month period, reflecting a deliberate shift to a December year-end. Revenue surged to ₦146.66 million from just ₦780,000 in the prior twelve-month period, driven by Fresh Fruit Bunch sales (₦136.41 million) and early livestock income (₦10.25 million).

The company also commissioned a 5-tonne-per-hour crude palm oil mill in July 2025, a milestone that should improve value capture going forward. However, operating losses deepened to ₦3.84 billion from ₦893.94 million, reflecting heavy expansion costs and start-up expenses.

Total liabilities nearly tripled to ₦7.83 billion, largely due to ₦7.08 billion in related-party payables tied to an incomplete public offer — a critical detail investors must not overlook. Total assets rose 15.1% to ₦28.26 billion, but total equity contracted 6.5% to ₦20.43 billion, and the debt-to-equity ratio jumped sharply from 12.4% to 38.3%.

Investors should watch whether the public offer is completed and how those liabilities are resolved, the pace at which maturing plantations convert to profitable yield, and whether processing throughput from the new mill translates to meaningful revenue growth in the next reporting cycle.
