Empty threat of dead empire – Ooni of Ife replies Alaafin of Oyo over 48hrs ultimatum

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, responded to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, regarding a 48-hour ultimatum to withdraw a Chieftaincy title. The Ooni dismissed the supremacy battle, calling the ultimatum an "empty threat of a dead empire." The Alaafin had demanded the withdrawal of the Okanlomo Yorubaland title conferred on a businessman, Chief Dotun Sanusi.

The Ooni's spokesperson, Moses Olafare, stated that the monarch was focused on business ventures and job creation, rather than engaging in a supremacy dispute. Olafare highlighted the Ooni's upcoming project, the Ojaja smart city in Ibadan, as evidence of his commitment to development.
