PDP Faces Legal Setback Ahead of National Convention

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) is currently embroiled in legal turmoil following a ruling by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, which halted the party's scheduled national convention set for November 15-16, 2025, due to non-compliance with constitutional provisions. The ruling was a result of a suit filed by three aggrieved members, including Austin Nwachukwu and Amah Abraham, who argued that the party failed to adhere to the guidelines established by the 1999 Constitution and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Omotosho's judgment indicated that the convention could not proceed until the PDP complied with its own constitutional requirements.
