PDP Faces Internal Crisis Amid Leadership Struggles

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) is currently embroiled in a significant internal crisis, marked by factional conflicts and failed reconciliation attempts. The party, once confident in its longevity, is now a shadow of its former self, with prominent figures such as Dr.

Goodluck Jonathan and Mr. Peter Obi involved in efforts to stabilize the situation.

The party's secretariat at Wadata Plaza has been closed for months following violent clashes between factions led by Governors Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde. Despite various attempts by the National Working Committee (NWC) and other party leaders, including Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola's reconciliation committee, the party remains divided.

A recent court ruling nullified a previous convention, further complicating the leadership struggle, as factions led by Wike and Tanimu Turaki vie for control. The PDP's future hinges on resolving these internal disputes, with a national convention scheduled for March 29-30, 2026, aimed at electing a new leadership structure.
