Enforcement Of NIHOTOUR Act: Minister Musawa Calls For Suspension

Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has called for the suspension of the enforcement of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) Act. This directive came during a courtesy visit by the newly elected executive of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), led by President Aliyu Badaki.

Musawa explained that the suspension was necessary to allow for reforms and adjustments to address areas of overlap and conflicts within the Act. She assured the association that relevant agencies would be engaged to ensure that issues of harassment during enforcement processes were addressed.

Musawa also disclosed plans for new initiatives in the tourism sector, with a focus on private sector involvement. FTAN President Badaki emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the ministry and the federation, as well as the resuscitation of the Presidential Council on Tourism (PCT).
