Anthony Gordon Advocates for Unique English Football Style

Anthony Gordon, a winger for the England National Team, expressed that England should focus on its own strengths rather than trying to emulate Spain's possession-based football style. Speaking at St George’s Park before England's match against world champions Spain at Wembley on September 24, Gordon reflected on England's recent World Cup performance, where they finished third after losing to Argentina in the semi-finals and defeating France in the bronze medal match.

Gordon scored England's opening goal against Argentina but was substituted shortly after due to a tactical change by coach Thomas Tuchel. He stated that while he felt great scoring on such a stage, substitutions are common for wingers.

Gordon, who transferred to Barcelona from Newcastle for £69.3 million, believes his experience in La Liga has provided him with insights into the differences between English and Spanish football, arguing that England should not attempt to replicate Spain's style as it does not align with English football's DNA.
