England Tops Global Women's Football Transfer Spending in 2025 with £20.7m

In 2025, England topped the global women's football transfer market with a record spend of £20.7m, representing an 83.6% increase from the previous year. The FIFA report, as published by BBC Sport, highlighted the rapid financial growth in the women's professional game.

England accounted for the largest share of spending, with clubs paying £7.9m in transfer fees and generating £1.5m from player sales. The United States followed as the second-highest spender with £5.8m.

The international player movement saw 2,440 cross-border transfers completed in 2025, up from 6.3% the previous year. Notable deals included Grace Geyoro's move to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record £1.4m and Chelsea's involvement in two of the top five expensive transfers.

In comparison, the men's professional game witnessed a staggering £13.08bn spent on transfer fees globally, marking a 52.3% rise from 2024, with England leading the table in Premier League club spending at £2.7bn, including Liverpool's expensive deals.
