Akwa Ibom Seeks South Korean Investment in AI and Agriculture

On August 31, 2023, Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno announced his administration's commitment to partnering with South Korea to attract investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI), smart agriculture, and the blue economy. This declaration was made at the University of Uyo during a public lecture by South Korean Ambassador Jeong Yo-an.

Represented by Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Eno highlighted the growing diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and South Korea, with trade volume exceeding $2.1 billion. He identified AI, smart agriculture, and the blue economy as key areas for sustainable economic opportunities and job creation.

Eno mentioned ongoing investments in human capital development, including youth development centers for digital skills acquisition. He assured potential investors of Akwa Ibom's openness to business opportunities and commended the University of Uyo's management for facilitating the ambassador's visit.
