Enugu Airport Concession Led by Festus Keyamo Raises Transparency Concerns

The Enugu airport concession, spearheaded by Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has sparked controversy. The agreement with Aero Alliance, signed in Abuja, lacks clarity on critical details such as revenue sharing and operational models.

The concession, part of Nigeria's aviation infrastructure modernization through public-private partnerships, faced criticism for its lack of transparency. The signing ceremony, attended by Enugu state officials and Aero Alliance representatives, aimed to enhance airport efficiency and passenger experience.

However, concerns remain over job security for aviation workers, with assurances from Keyamo that no retrenchments will occur. The Federal Executive Council approved the concession on July 31, 2025, subject to contractual processes.

The agreement's terms, including security charges and financial models, are yet to be finalized, raising uncertainties within the aviation sector.
