Enugu Assembly Dissolves Health Committee Over Misconduct
The Enugu State House of Assembly announced the dissolution of its Committee on Health due to allegations of gross misconduct and high-handedness. Speaker Hon. Uche Ugwu made the announcement during a plenary session on Tuesday.
The dissolution was prompted by the unruly behavior exhibited by the committee chairman, Hon. Okechukwu Aneke, during an executive session held on September 21, 2026. Ugwu accused Aneke of high-handedness in managing the committee.
In response to the situation, Ugwu established a five-man ad-hoc disciplinary committee led by Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu, tasked with investigating the allegations and reporting back to the Assembly within two weeks. Additionally, the Assembly received a report on the annual accounts of Enugu State for the year ending December 31, 2025.
