Okpebholo Critiques Edo Assembly on Constituency Projects

In Benin City, Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo accused the Edo State House of Assembly of not executing any constituency projects since September 2025, despite the release of funds for such initiatives. During a visit from traditional rulers led by His Royal Highness Curtis Iredia Eidinojie I, Okpebholo explained the rationale behind the recent amendments to the Financial Autonomy Law and the Judicial Autonomy Law.

He stated that these amendments aim to promote transparency, accountability, and due process in managing state funds. Okpebholo emphasized that the House of Assembly's role is to appropriate funds and not to execute projects directly.

He noted that since last year, significant funds had been allocated without any visible projects being carried out. The amended law will ensure that constituency projects are managed by relevant ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), allowing for proper monitoring and implementation while lawmakers continue to appropriate funds.
