Enugu NDC Crisis Resolved as Ene-Nwannaji Withdraws Case

The internal conflict within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State has come to an end following Professor Ene-Nwannaji's withdrawal of his legal case against Chinyeaka Ohaa, the party's governorship candidate. The Federal High Court in Enugu dismissed the case, resolving the dispute over the party's candidacy for the 2027 governorship election.

The crisis involved two factions within the NDC, one supporting Ohaa and the other, led by Dr. Sebastine Chukwuebuka Okafor, claiming that Ene-Nwannaji was the rightful candidate. The opposing faction alleged that Ohaa was a factional candidate and that the primary election was improperly conducted.

Following the court's decision, Ohaa declared it a victory for internal democracy and expressed hopes for unity within the party. Ene-Nwannaji, who had initially purchased the party's governorship nomination form, pledged his support for Ohaa, citing the need for collaboration for the benefit of the people of Enugu State.
