Enugu Aims to Lead Africa's Tech Ecosystem, Says Ezeh

Dr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh, the Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology in Enugu State, announced that the state is positioning itself to become a leading voice in Africa's technology ecosystem.

His remarks followed the success of the four-day Enugu Tech Festival, which drew an impressive turnout of 58,000 innovators. This event reflects Nigeria's ambition to emerge as a tech leader on the continent.

Ezeh emphasized the role of subnational governments as active builders of the tech ecosystem, stating that Enugu will not merely observe the technological revolution but will actively participate and produce outcomes. The festival featured discussions on artificial intelligence, blockchain, and Web3 technologies, alongside technical masterclasses on scaling products and market fit.

Notable highlights included the distribution of laptops and tablets, an outstanding hackathon, and a N10 million grant awarded to selected startup founders and innovative teams to accelerate product development and market entry.
