Enugu State Achieves N101.8 Billion Revenue in Q1 2026

In the first quarter of 2026, Enugu State reported a total revenue inflow of N101.8 billion, with an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N43.9 billion, indicating an improvement in fiscal strength and revenue mobilization efforts. The state's revenue performance was bolstered by a combination of higher IGR and statutory allocations from the federal account.

The report highlighted a focus on capital spending, directing significant resources towards infrastructure, education, and healthcare, reflecting a commitment to converting revenue increases into developmental outcomes. The state's revenue included N57.86 billion from federal allocations, with a breakdown showing infrastructure as a dominant area of government expenditure.

Governor Mbah proposed a budget of N971 billion for 2025, representing a 66.5% increase from the previous year, and aims for a realistic IGR target of N870 billion. Additionally, the state is partnering with investors for the upgrade of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, with expectations for the cargo terminal to commence operations in the first quarter of 2026.
