Enyimba FC Sanctioned for Security Breaches and Misconduct in NPFL Match

Enyimba FC has been sanctioned by the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) for multiple breaches of its rules during a match against Barau FC on January 18, 2026. The club was charged with serious security lapses and misconduct, including failing to provide adequate security, allowing unauthorized access to restricted areas of the stadium, and improper conduct towards match officials.

Enyimba supporters encroached into restricted zones, leading to the detention of match officials for several hours. As a result, the club was fined a total of N5 million, broken down into N2 million for inadequate security, N1 million for encroachment into restricted areas, and N2 million for misconduct and holding match officials hostage.

Enyimba was also ordered to play their next three home matches behind closed doors. This punishment follows similar disciplinary actions against Remo Stars FC for security breaches and misconduct during a match against Ikorodu City.

The NPFL is cracking down on crowd violence and security breaches to ensure the safety of match officials and maintain the integrity of the competition.
