Chelsea's Jess Derry Hospitalized After Head Injury

Jess Derry, an 18-year-old forward for Chelsea FC, is currently conscious in the hospital after suffering a head injury during a Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on Monday. Derry made his top-flight debut in this game but collided with Nottingham Forest defender Zach Abbott in the first half, requiring lengthy treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off.

Chelsea's official statement confirmed that Derry is undergoing precautionary checks. The incident occurred in the 45th minute inside the Forest penalty area, where Derry received oxygen while medical staff attended to him, causing a stoppage in play for several minutes.

Chelsea's caretaker manager, Callum McFarlan, later reassured that Derry's condition is showing positive signs. Derry, who is the son of former midfielder Shaun Derry, joined Chelsea from Crystal Palace last summer and has impressed at the youth level, scoring 12 goals in 29 academy matches this season.

Following the collision, he was replaced by Liam Delap as part of the league's head injury protocol.
