Xabi Alonso Plans to Pair Rogers and Palmer at Chelsea

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has announced his intention to include new signing Morgan Rogers in the starting line-up alongside Cole Palmer. Rogers recently transferred to Chelsea from Aston Villa for £117 million, reuniting with his childhood friend Palmer at Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of Chelsea's pre-season friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers, Alonso expressed confidence that the duo will effectively challenge opposing defenses next season. He stated, “In that position we needed an important player and I’m sure there were not many more better options than Morgan Rogers.” Alonso emphasized the importance of Rogers' immediate impact, indicating that he would quickly adapt to the club's system and his teammates.

Alonso also mentioned having a strategic plan for the team, focusing on achieving a good balance with special players in key positions to enhance competitiveness both with and without the ball.
