Epstein Survivors Sue U.S. Government and Google Over Leak

Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein have initiated a lawsuit against the U.S. government and Google, alleging that the release of sensitive documents by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has compromised their identities.

The lawsuit, filed on Thursday, follows the DOJ's release of three million documents in January, which mistakenly revealed the identities of victims meant to remain anonymous. The plaintiffs argue that this disclosure constitutes a serious violation of their privacy rights under the Privacy Act of 1974.

Additionally, the lawsuit accuses Google of continuing to leak information by allowing access to public files that include sensitive personal details. The plaintiffs assert that this breach has led to renewed emotional distress and safety concerns.

The case highlights the discovery of explicit images within the released files, including photographs of individuals associated with Epstein, who was convicted in 2008 for soliciting sex from a minor. Epstein died in custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on additional sex trafficking charges.
