Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle Plans to Integrate Four New Stars After 2025 AFCON Success

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is strategizing to revamp the squad by gradually replacing aging players with fresh talent after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Chelle has scouted across Nigeria, the Premier League, and European fixtures to identify players capable of strengthening the national team.

Notably, Chelle attempted to convince Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri and Newcastle United's player to commit to Nigeria but faced challenges. However, Werder Bremen's defender successfully switched his international allegiance to Nigeria.

Benjamin Fredrick has emerged as a significant find for Nigeria, securing a place in the national setup and featuring in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers after missing the 2025 AFCON due to injury. Chelle plans to gradually introduce young talents to ensure a smooth transition as experienced players age or face injuries.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly patient with Chelle as he fulfills the remaining 12 months of his contract, following the team's success in the AFCON 2025.
