Super Eagles Open Unity Cup to NPFL and Diaspora Talents

Eric Chelle, the coach of the Super Eagles, has announced that players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and new talents from the diaspora will have the opportunity to participate in the Unity Cup. This tournament is set to take place in London from May 26 to May 30, 2026, where Nigeria will defend the title it won last year against teams from India, Jamaica, and Zimbabwe.

Chelle emphasized that the competition will serve as an excellent opportunity to assess new options outside the FIFA international calendar, especially for senior players preparing for high-profile friendlies in June against Portugal and Poland. The Unity Cup, now in its fourth edition, aims to bring together countries with strong diaspora communities in London.

Nigeria is expected to face Zimbabwe in the semi-finals, a rematch of a recent World Cup qualifier, while Jamaica will compete against India in the other semi-final, with the winners meeting in the final on May 30.
