Ethiopian Airlines Expands to 53 Weekly Flights in Nigeria

On September 8, Ethiopian Airlines announced an expansion of its operations in Nigeria, increasing its weekly flights to 53. This includes the introduction of four weekly flights to Port Harcourt, enhancing access to international destinations via Addis Ababa.

The airline will also operate 21 weekly flights from Lagos and 11 from Kano, serving five Nigerian cities: Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Enugu, and Port Harcourt. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, General Manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, stated that this decision reflects the airline's confidence in the Nigerian market, emphasizing the benefits of increased flexibility, seat availability, connectivity, and competitive fares for passengers.

The new service is expected to stimulate economic activity in the region, benefiting local businesses in ground handling, hotels, transport, catering, and travel services. Additionally, it aims to support tourism and business travel in the South-South, reducing reliance on Lagos or Abuja for international connections.
