EU Heads of Mission Strengthen Ties in Kano, Nigeria

The European Union Heads of Mission, led by EU Ambassador to Nigeria Gautier Mignot, concluded a multi-day engagement in Kano State aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships across northern Nigeria. The delegation included representatives from UNICEF and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German government.

The mission focused on reinforcing youth involvement and community development, emphasizing the importance of listening to young voices in shaping societal contributions. During the visit, the delegation met with Kano State Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, discussing urban development opportunities and the need for strong partnerships to advance development goals.

The state government presented its urban development strategy aimed at guiding sustainable growth and improving infrastructure. The mission also observed EU-supported initiatives, including educational programs and child protection efforts, to ensure that vulnerable children have opportunities to thrive and build a better future.
