EU Announces €288 Million Aid Package for Nigeria

The European Union (EU) has rolled out a €288 million aid package aimed at bolstering Nigeria's critical sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, finance, migration, climate, and public infrastructure. This announcement was made during a conference in Abuja, highlighting the EU's commitment to enhancing its partnership with Nigeria.

Mr. Stefano Signor, Director General for International Partnerships at the European Commission, described the funding as part of the EU's Global Gateway Strategy, which seeks to accelerate investment and strengthen key sectors.

The aid includes €23 million in grants, €108 million in recent signatures, €22 million in grants, and €86 million in loans to the Nigerian government. Additionally, €50 million has been allocated to support the development of healthcare manufacturing projects.

The initiative reflects Nigeria's commitment to deepening strategic relationships under President Bola Tinubu's leadership, focusing on macroeconomic reforms and creating an enabling environment for private sector-led growth.
