EU to Implement Finnish-Estonian Digital Model in Nigeria

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, revealed plans to deploy the digital infrastructure model used in Finland and Estonia in Nigeria. This announcement was made during the Nigeria GovTech Conference Awards 2025 organized by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) in Abuja.

The model aims to enhance governance efficiency through secure data exchange among different public sector platforms while safeguarding citizen data privacy. The EU's support includes deploying additional fiber optic cables, improving digital literacy, and establishing a digital transformation center.

The initiative aligns with Nigeria's Digital Economy Initiative to accelerate government digitalization and improve efficiency.
