Eva Longoria and Gillian Anderson Shine at Cannes Awards

The L’Oréal Cannes Women’s Worth Awards took place on May 22, celebrating women's significant impact in the film industry, both in front of and behind the camera. Notable attendees included Eva Longoria, Gillian Anderson, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Longoria, a multi-hyphenate actor, director, and producer, emphasized the need for more female directors in Hollywood. Anderson, recognized for her roles in "The X-Files" and "Sex Education," brought her signature elegance to the event and has been a prominent voice on women's issues throughout her career.

Rai Bachchan, a former Miss World and Bollywood icon, represented Indian cinema. The awards also featured a mentorship program and a $50,000 grant for female filmmakers.

The event comes as the Cannes Film Festival faces scrutiny regarding gender parity, having made strides in recent years but still needing improvement, as noted by critics who pointed out that only four out of 22 films competing for the Palme d'Or were directed by women.
