Buratai: Security Forces Can Track Bandits Effectively

In a recent interview with TVC, former Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Buratai (retd) expressed confidence in the ability of Nigeria's security agencies to trace and locate bandits and terrorists, asserting that they can track individuals just as effectively as they track ordinary citizens on social media. His comments came in response to the recent abduction of schoolchildren and a teacher in Oyo State, which resulted in the death of the teacher and raised concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the country.

Buratai stated that he does not believe security operations are incapable of identifying and locating criminal groups, highlighting the importance of modern technological intelligence tools. He stressed the necessity for stronger capacity building across Nigeria's security institutions, advocating for the recruitment and training of personnel in the military and police to enhance the fight against banditry and kidnapping.
