Ex-Benue Governor Suswam Joins APC for Senate Bid

Gabriel Suswam, the former governor of Benue State, has officially declared his intention to run for the Benue North East Senatorial District seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections. He will be contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following his recent defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

In an interview on Arise TV, Suswam described his political realignment as driven by conviction rather than personal interest. He noted that historically, Benue State has been dominated by a single party, the PDP, for 16 years before the shift to APC.

Suswam emphasized that the people of Benue State desire a change and believe in the principles and philosophy of the APC. He stated that he is strong enough to contest the elections and clarified that he does not intend to run for governor again, as the constitution prohibits him from doing so.
