Ex-Council Chairmanship Candidate Arraigned for Alleged Rape of Teenager in Kwara State

Musbau Esinrogunjo, a former local government chairmanship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, has been arraigned in the state high court for allegedly raping a teenager. The state government brought charges against him, leading to legal proceedings where his defense counsel, Joseph Bamgboy, challenged the competency of the actions taken.

The prosecution, led by Ayoola Akande of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), argued against granting bail, citing that the accused had already been in court and had been granted bail by the Department of State Services (DSS) in July 2025. The trial judge, Funso Dada Lawal, deferred the plea and set the next adjournment date for November 13, 2025.

The defense's application for plea-taking will be heard in line with the Kwara State Administration of Criminal Justice Act.
