Probe Links Ex-DasukiGate Suspect to Coup Against Tinubu

Brigadier General Nicholas Ashinz, currently serving as the Director of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), is under investigation for his alleged involvement in a coup plot against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This probe is connected to the DasukiGate scandal, which involved the diversion of over $2 billion earmarked for arms procurement.

Ashinz's previous association with the controversial DasukiGate case raises questions about the credibility of the investigation. The panel, reportedly led by Major General Y Yahaya, has discovered claims of $12 billion in accounts linked to the investigation.

Concerns have been raised regarding the health and safety of detained officers, with reports indicating that at least five have fallen ill, and two have collapsed due to poor conditions in detention facilities. The investigation has taken a political turn, with former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva confirming a security operation at his residence, which is part of the broader inquiry.
