Okowa at EFCC Lagos Office Amid N1.3 Trillion Probe

Ifeanyi Okowa, the former Governor of Delta State, was reportedly seen at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office in Lagos, specifically on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct during his administration. The probe focuses on allegations of mismanagement of approximately N1.3 trillion, which is linked to the 13 percent derivation fund allocated to Delta State from the federal account between 2015 and 2023.

Sources within the EFCC disclosed that Okowa's visit was related to seeking the release of his international passport to enable him to travel abroad for urgent medical treatment. However, it was not immediately confirmed whether the EFCC approved his request for the release of the travel document.

Okowa had previously initiated an arrest by the EFCC on November 4, 2024, and subsequent interrogations were conducted by the commission's Port Harcourt zonal director. As of the report, the EFCC had not issued an official statement regarding Okowa's latest visit or the status of his passport request.
