Eba Leaves APC, Rejoins PDP Amid Leadership Crisis

Eba, a former chairman of the APC in Cross River State and an ally of ex-Governor Ben Ayade, has officially resigned from the APC and rejoined the PDP. He announced his decision on May 7, 2026, citing allegations of intimidation and political repression within the APC.

Eba's exit comes amid a prolonged leadership crisis within the APC, which escalated in December 2025 when 30 out of 32 members of the state executive committee passed a vote of no confidence against the chairman. Despite a court order restraining the APC from enforcing this resolution, the party proceeded with Eba's expulsion.

Eba expressed that he could no longer remain silent in the face of ongoing oppression and has formally requested his name be removed from the APC membership register. He received invitations from three opposition parties before deciding to return to the PDP, emphasizing the need to rebuild the party's structure across the state.
