Yahaya Bello Cleared for APC Senate Contest in Kogi

Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, has been officially cleared to contest for the APC Senate ticket in the Kogi Central senatorial district. This decision comes as the Kogi State APC Screening Committee approved a total of 17 senatorial aspirants across three senatorial districts in preparation for the primaries scheduled for Monday.

Bello's eligibility had been a subject of speculation recently. He is expected to compete for the APC ticket alongside other aspirants, including Momoh Yusuf, Obaro Ibrahim, and Yakubu Adok.

In Kogi West, the current senator Sundai Karimi emerged as the consensus candidate following a stakeholders' meeting at the Government House in Lokoja, despite six aspirants, including former senator Aro Bamidel, being cleared by the committee. In Kogi East, seven aspirants have also been cleared to contest in the APC primaries, including the current senator Joseph Ameh and Murtala Ajaka.
