FG Approves ₦48bn Grant for Selected Universities

Chidi Nwogu, a former member of the House of Representatives, commended the Nigerian government for its approval of a ₦48 billion special grant designated for selected universities, aimed at enhancing engineering programs. The initiative, part of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) special high-impact intervention project, includes 12 beneficiary institutions, each set to receive ₦4 billion.

Nwogu made these remarks during the inauguration of the implementation committee on Monday, highlighting the vision and drive of President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa.

The project is expected to upgrade engineering programs at various institutions, positioning them among the best in Africa in specialties such as mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, and software engineering, as well as aerospace and biomedical engineering. The beneficiary institutions include the Federal University of Technology Minna, Federal University of Technology Akure, Federal University of Technology Babura, Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigerian Army University, Shehu Shagari University of Education, Enugu State University of Medical and Applied Sciences, Delta State University, and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University.
