FG Approves N48bn for Selected Universities' Upgrades

Hon. Chidi Nwogu, a former member of the House of Representatives, commended the Nigerian government for approving a N48 billion special intervention fund designated for selected universities.

This initiative, which falls under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), aims to enhance engineering programs and elevate the institutions to be among the best in Africa. The fund will be allocated to 12 beneficiary institutions, including the African Aviation and Aerospace University in Abuja, which will receive N4 billion.

Other beneficiaries include the Federal University of Technology Minna in Niger State, Federal University of Technology Akure in Ondo State, Federal University of Technology Babura in Jigawa State, Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State, Federal University of Technology Owerri in Imo State, Nigerian Army University in Borno State, Shehu Shagari University of Education in Sokoto State, Enugu State University of Medical and Applied Sciences, Delta State University, and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University. The initiative was inaugurated on a Monday, with Nwogu expressing optimism about its potential impact on the advancement of engineering disciplines.
