Yemi Osinbajo Appointed Senior Advisor to Africa CDC

Yemi Osinbajo, the former Vice President of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, has received a new appointment as a senior strategic advisor to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). This announcement was made by Jean Kaseya, the director of Africa CDC.

Osinbajo's appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Africa CDC as it seeks to advance Africa's health security and sovereignty agenda, which aims to enhance the continent's influence in global health matters. His extensive experience in governance, finance, law, diplomacy, and leadership is expected to be invaluable in reshaping global health systems, sustaining healthcare financing, and promoting local production of medical supplies.

Osinbajo previously served as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 and chaired Nigeria's Economic Sustainability Committee, leading reforms to improve the ease of doing business and implement social investment programs.
