Yemi Osinbajo Appointed Senior Advisor to Africa CDC

Former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has been appointed as a Senior Strategic Advisor to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), as announced in a statement obtained from the Political Nigeria Agency. This appointment comes at a pivotal time for advancing Africa's health security and sovereignty agenda, which aims to strengthen the continent's voice in global health matters, expand domestic financing, accelerate local manufacturing of health commodities, and build resilient health systems for pandemic preparedness and response.

Jean Kaseya, the Director-General of Africa CDC, highlighted that Osinbajo's extensive experience in governance, finance, law, and diplomacy will be invaluable as Africa seeks to enhance its leadership in global health. Osinbajo served as Nigeria's Vice President from 2015 to 2023 and previously held the position of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.

He also chaired Nigeria's Economic Sustainability Committee, which led business reforms to improve the business environment.
