Yemi Osinbajo Gains Global Recognition Post-Vice Presidency

Yemi Osinbajo, who served as Nigeria's fifth democratically elected Vice President until May 2023, has emerged as a prominent international statesman. Following his tenure, he was appointed to lead the Commonwealth Observer Group for Sierra Leone's 2023 general elections.

In July 2023, he was named a global advisor for the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, focusing on sustainable energy development. His expertise in governance and diplomacy has been recognized through his appointment as board chair of the Climate Action Platform Africa in September 2023, where he will influence Africa's climate strategies.

Additionally, he joined the Mo Ibrahim Foundation Council in November 2023, contributing to governance standards in Africa. Osinbajo is also involved in the African Leaders Debt Relief Initiative, set to launch in February 2025, aimed at negotiating comprehensive debt relief for heavily indebted African countries, with Olusegun Obasanjo serving as chair.
