Owi and Others Defect from ADC to NDC in Edo State

On Wednesday, prominent members, including former Chief Whip of the Senate Sir Rowland Owi and Sunni Aguebor, defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Edo State. The defectors cited allegations of the ADC being hijacked and internal crises affecting the party at both state and national levels.

Owi criticized the leadership of the ADC, particularly targeting former governor John Odigie Oyegun, who was accused of reserving party tickets for select individuals. Aguebor mentioned that the NDC offers a legal advantage compared to the ADC, which faces potential legal challenges.

The defectors expressed a desire to secure candidacies for the 2027 elections, indicating dissatisfaction with the ADC's current direction. They emphasized the need for a more inclusive political environment, stating that many real members of the ADC have already transitioned to the NDC.
