ADC Loses 17 Reps to NDC Amid Leadership Crisis

On Tuesday, a total of seventeen members of the House of Representatives officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This decision was announced during a plenary session by Deputy Speaker Hon.

Benjamin Kalu, who read the defection letters. The members cited ongoing leadership crises within the ADC as their reason for leaving.

Notable defectors to the NDC include Hon. Yusuf Datti, Hon.

Sani Wakil, Hon. Mukthar Zakari, and Hon.

Abdulhakeem Ado from Kano State, as well as several representatives from Anambra State, including Hon. Uchenna Okonkwo and Hon.

Georg Ozodinobi. Additionally, Hon.

Leke Abejide from Kogi State defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defections are significant as they reflect the shifting political landscape ahead of the 2023 general elections, where the Labour Party's presidential candidate is Mr.

Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso has also defected to the NDC.
