The 2nd Senator Abiru Mixed Team Championships in Lagos has attracted 150 players to compete for a prize pool of 5.5 million naira, a significant increase from the previous year. Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru emphasized the tournament's focus on youth development during the launch event.

The President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ITTF Africa), Wahid Enitan Oshodi, commended Senator Abiru for his continuous support and sponsorship of the tournament. Adesoji Tayo, the President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), described the tournament as a bold and innovative step for African table tennis.
