1st Abia Para Badminton Int’l Championships: 150 Athletes from 13 Countries Compete in Umuahia

The 1st Abia Para Badminton International Championships will see 150 athletes from 13 countries competing in Umuahia. The event, followed by the African Para Badminton Championships, aims to provide an equitable playing field with specially designed mats.

The State Commissioner for Sports, Nwaobilor Ananaba, highlighted the state's readiness for the historic event. Athletes from countries like Brazil, Egypt, and Cameroon will participate across six male and female categories.

The President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih, commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti's commitment to the tournament. The championships will also feature a Para Badminton workshop to enhance coaching skills.
