Foiled Coup Plot to Topple Nigerian Politicians Uncovered and Thwarted

In late September 2025, a coup plot targeting Nigerian political figures, notably Bola Tinubu, was uncovered and thwarted through a joint operation by the Nigerian Army and State Security Service (SSS). The plot was revealed by an unnamed military officer who contacted the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, leading to a swift and coordinated effort to arrest the coup masterminds.

The operation included the arrest of key individuals such as Emmanuel Undiandey and Christoph Musa, among others. Retired General Adamu and former Governor Timipre Sylva were implicated in bankrolling the coup.

Following the arrests, a special investigation panel was set up, resulting in further arrests and indictments. The coup plotters allegedly targeted several high-profile officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and Senate President Godswil Akpabio.

The plot was described as an attempt to destabilize the government and undermine democracy in Nigeria.
