Expedite action on land grabbing, Lagos Assembly urges Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State House of Assembly has urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to take swift action against land grabbing in the state. This call came after a report was presented by the Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Public Petitions, Hon Oladipo Ajomale, following a petition filed by Tijani Maruf and others from Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area.

The committee found that Aluko had failed to conduct due diligence before purchasing the land and had relied on a purported Appeal Court judgment. The committee recommended that Maruf be given permanent possession of the land and directed Aluko to cease his unlawful encroachment.

The Assembly emphasized the need for punitive measures to deter others from engaging in land grabbing activities. The resolution was unanimously adopted by the House.
