Lagos Government to Seal 176 Estates for Violating Approval Laws

The Lagos State Government plans to seal over 176 estates for non-compliance with approval laws. Dr.

Oluyinka Olumide, the Commissioner of Physical Planning and Urban Development, revealed that despite multiple opportunities to regularize their status, many developers have failed to comply with statutory requirements. The government extended amnesty windows, but some developers did not align with the law.

Olumide emphasized the illegality of commencing construction without proper authorization and warned prospective property buyers to demand necessary documentation to avoid financial losses. The move aims to enforce compliance with legal requirements for estate development in Lagos.
