Experts Critique Treatment of Nigerian Airlines by Foreign Carriers

Experts have criticized the de-marketing of Nigerian airlines, pointing to a tendency among Nigerians to favor foreign carriers over local ones. This issue was highlighted by recent incidents involving British Airways and Delta Air Lines.

Passengers traveling from Lagos to London on British Airways experienced significant delays and cancellations, with one group stranded for two days due to technical issues. Complaints included poor communication and inadequate customer service.

Similarly, a Delta Air Lines flight from Lagos to Atlanta returned to Atlanta after three and a half hours due to technical problems, leading to further dissatisfaction among passengers. Captain Chris Najomo of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) responded to criticisms regarding Air Peace's cancellation of a flight due to a bird strike, stating that cancellations occur worldwide and that the airline provided accommodations for affected passengers.

These incidents underscore the challenges faced by Nigerian airlines in maintaining passenger confidence.
