Explosion at US Embassy in Oslo Investigated by Police

An explosion struck the United States Embassy in Oslo, Norway, at approximately 1:00 AM local time on Sunday. According to a statement from the Oslo police, the blast affected the entrance of the embassy's consular section, resulting in limited damage but no reported injuries.

Oslo police district command, represented by Michael Dellemyr, confirmed that multiple reports of the explosion were received and that an investigation is underway to determine the cause. Dellemyr noted that the investigation is in its early stages and suggested that the explosion may have been deliberate.

The police cordoned off a large area around the embassy, and a bomb disposal unit was deployed to the scene. Residents in the vicinity reported hearing a loud blast, with a 16-year-old identified as Edvard initially believing the sound originated from inside his home.

The incident occurred during a heightened alert period for U.S. diplomatic missions amid tensions surrounding American military operations in Iran, although police stated there is currently no evidence linking the Oslo explosion to the ongoing conflict.
