NUPRC's Eyesan Commits to Digital Transformation

Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), has committed to enhancing transparency and ensuring the agency's internal communication is fully digitized. During a visit from Musa Sarkin Adar, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Eyesan outlined a 60-day program to digitize interactions within the commission, eliminating paper trails and ensuring electronic transmission for speed and traceability.

He emphasized that digitization could lead to better enforcement of royalty payments, which have seen a significant default rate prior to 2025 when the commission's compliance system went live. Eyesan also expressed the need to deepen the relationship with NEITI to foster transparency, especially in light of the upcoming 2025 licensing round.

Adar urged the NUPRC to enhance transparency to boost investor confidence and requested active participation in the 2026 EITI flagship conference for better data sharing and operational insights.
