FA Charges Rodri Over Referee Comments After Tottenham Draw

The Football Association (FA) has charged Manchester City midfielder Rodri for misconduct following remarks made about match officiating after a dramatic 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on February 1. In that match, City surrendered a two-goal lead, with the turning point occurring early in the second half when Dominic Solanke pulled a goal back for Tottenham.

City players felt that Solanke had kicked the leg of defender Marc Guehi in the build-up to the goal, but referee Robert Jones allowed it, which shifted the momentum of the game. Solanke later scored again, completing the comeback.

In a post-match interview, Rodri did not hide his disappointment regarding the officiating, although the FA did not specify which comments led to the charge. Rodri is expected to respond to the charge by February 18.

Manchester City, currently second in the Premier League, is four points adrift of Arsenal.
