Digital Forensics Reveal Altered Image of Peter Obi

A fact-check by Daily Trust examined an image of bread that allegedly featured Peter Obi's photograph, which circulated amid political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. A reverse image search traced the original image to one bearing President Bola Tinubu's photograph, identified as existing in the first weeks of October 2026.

The version with Obi's photograph was found to have emerged on October 20, 2026. Digital forensic tests using Google’s SynthID technology and Hive’s AI detector indicated that the Obi version had undergone significant digital manipulation, with an AI-generation score of 81 percent compared to zero percent for the Tinubu version.

FOTO Forensic analysis also revealed a higher noise level in the Obi version. While the investigation confirmed the authenticity of the images, it could not determine who distributed the bread or if the distribution occurred as claimed.

The findings suggest that the claim of Obi distributing the bread is misleading due to the image's alteration.
